Independent Reading

In addition to weekly assignments, students should read twenty to thirty minutes a day. Reading material can include picture books, chapter books, magazine articles, or news articles. Please see the list of questions you can ask your student when they are reading both literary and informational text.

All About Mrs. Lark!

Welcome to my class website! First, I would love to share a little bit about myself with you! I am originally from Sardis, Mississipi. Three years ago, my family and I decided to move to a quiet area in Desoto County. I have two beautiful children! Karwanie is 6 years old and Kylee is 2 years old. I love spending time with my children, eating out, watching movies, and siting outside on nice days. I love to learn new ideas and teaching strategies that I can use in the classroom to promote student learning, I am very friendly, and I don’t mind helping out in any way possible.

I recently graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (M.Ed.). I have been teaching for 7 years! I’ve taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade. This is my second year teaching 3rd grade at Horn Lake Intermediate.

Message to Parents and Students!

I hope that you and your family are all doing well. I miss my dear students very much during this time! Please let them know that I miss seeing their sweet faces and receiving those warm and loving hugs, but it's safer for us all if we continue with our learning from home at this time. Let them know that I still believe that "We can do anything we put our minds to!" If you need to contact me, you can contact me through Remind, SchoolStauts, and my school email. The most important thing that I want everyone to know is that I'm here for you'll in any way possible.

Desoto County Schools will be closed through April 17, 2020, but we will continue to work hard and provide learning opportunities for our students. We will do this by moving towards distance learning. I will add lessons/assignments to my website every Monday. I'll send out a message every Monday to let you'll know as soon as I add them to my website. If you have a paper learning packet, I'll let you'll know what pages to complete each week.

One of my brilliant 3rd graders sent me an informative text about how to stay safe! Great job Rittal!
