What are we working on?
In this second nine weeks, we will be working on analyzing point of view and multiple accounts on the same topic. We will also analyze the structure of poems, drama, and prose, and comparing and contrasting text structure. Students will analyze diverse media and their contribution to author's meaning, tone, and message, as well as, interpret text features in informational text for their contribution to text and multimedia. Finally, students will explain author's use of evidence to support their points, integrate information from several texts, and compare and contrast similar themes in the same genre. All writing formats will be reviewed along with the use of figurative language and context clues.

In addition to weekly assignments, students should read twenty to thirty minutes a day. Reading material can include picture books, chapter books, magazine articles, or news articles. Please see the list of questions you can ask your student when they are reading both literary and informational text in the documents below.
