Welcome to Our Class!

I am so excited to join the Eagle Nation at HLIS! I have been teaching and working in elementary schools for over 20 years.  Most recently I worked with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Graders in Brooklyn, NYC.  I grew up in New Jersey and went to college at the University of Maryland.  I started teaching in Atlanta with my first ever 3rd Grade class while getting my Masters Degree in Reading Instruction from Georgia State University.  Then I moved back to the Northeast to work in NYC.
While working in New York City, I taught almost every grade from 1st - 8th.  I also was a teacher coach and trainer but working with 3-5 Graders is still the best job.  I went back to school again in 2016 and earned a degree in Educational Administration.  
I am married and have 4 wonderful step-kids and one sweet dog named Jasper.  I love to knit and watch TV in my free time but mostly I enjoy doing anything that is going to make me laugh and smile.

Education and Experience:

I went to the University of Maryland for my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, Georgia State University for my Masters in Reading Instruction and Montclair State University for my Principal Certification. 

 

I have worked in elementary schools for over 20 years in four different states.
