5th Grade Language Arts

Hello! I would like to say, first and foremost, that I am so excited to start this year with all of you. Fifth grade is going to be an amazing year of growth!  I am thrilled to be returning to the HLIS team for a third year! Go Eagles! I am from Madison, MS but have spent the last several years in Hattiesburg. I graduated with honors from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I am licensed to teach grades K-6 in the state of Mississippi and also have endorsements in Reading and Social Studies.

Before I began my teaching career, I had a great deal of experience working with children. From the very beginning, I helped raise my two younger siblings. I spent many summers working in a preschool, a daycare, or as a nanny. I have worked countless vacation Bible schools and volunteered often in different children’s ministries. I truly believe that I am meant to work with children. This will be my third year teaching fifth graders, and I cannot wait to get to know my new class!

When I am not teaching, I love to cook. I especially love to bake cookies. I also enjoy reading mystery novels and watching funny movies. I have family in the area, so I will often be attending Lewisburg sporting events to cheer on my younger cousin.
