Image for Principal

After graduating from Mississippi State University, I taught fifth grade in Caledonia and Senatobia. I joined the Desoto County Schools family in 2003 at Chicksaw Elementary School in Olive Branch where I absolutely loved teaching third grade! I taught under wonderful administrators and alongside so many amazing teachers.  I left my beloved classroom to participate in the MS Sabbatical Leave Program where I acquired my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Delta State University.

Following Delta State, I had the honor of serving Desoto County as our district's first reading/language arts specialist at the central office.  My love for teaching and learning coupled with a passion for professional development made this position an ideal experience for me. I absolutely loved working with and learning from all of our teachers and administrators.

My hopes of being a building level administrator came to pass when I was given the opportunity to become the assistant principal at Horn Lake Elementary. This experience was especially sweet to me.  Some 25 years earlier, I had walked those same halls as a first grader.  It was also during my time at Horn Lake Elementary that I was surprised and humbled to be nationally recognized as a Milken Educator. My experiences have been varied and diverse affording me incredible experiences to prepare me take the help as principal at Horn Lake Intermediate in 2015.

What a joy it is to be the principal at Horn Lake Intermediate! This school is an incredible place committed to the good of boys and girls! It is our joy to partner with our parents and our community as we seek to provide our students with the absolute best educational experience possible. It is important to me that my students' parents know that we are committed to providing your child with a safe and supportive school environment. Together we can create an environment where students feel safe to take academic risks and to try new things as they build strong relationships with teachers and classmates.

Our goal is to GROW every student as a reader, writer, mathematican, and scientific thinker all while becoming a productive participant in a strong and supportive school culture.  We believe your child is much more than a test score or a number on page. We seek to meet your child where he is and help him reach his full potential. We need parents as partners!

Speaking of parents, I am one of those, too! My husband, Jeffrey, and I are wild about our eight year-old little boy, Silas, and our three year old little live wire, Piper Rose.

I want to create a school where your child is treated with the same respect, care, and concern as if they were my own. I believe all children are of equal value and desire to be treated with the highest level of  respect and care.

My assistant principals and I share a committment to provide the highest level of care for your child. What a joy to be on this journey with you!
